Chainsaw Sprocket Knucklehead and Tank
THE TRUE BIKER BAND SINGING SONGS OF LIFE ON THE HIGHWAYS CLUBHOUSES POOLROOMS AND BARS

Originally I conceived this as a one off recording idea with
Johnny Grey, an outstanding Slide player who turned me on to playing
it. We ended up doing gigs, Biker clubhouses and concerts. All of the
songs are about Biker lifestyle, Bikes and the road.
Chainsaw Sprocket
Knucklehead and Tank were the first true Biker Band in Australia who
actually sang songs about bikes and Biker lifestyle. All of the songs
have a connection with this theme. The album was recorded in a shack in Murwillumbah in Northern New South Wales in the summer of 1986. Based on
a Leiber and Stoller song, Black Denim Trousers. The album became a cult
record in the eighties amongst Bikers . It was released in Australia,
Norway and New Zealand. The video, now lost, was played on the breakfast
show by channel 10 in Sydney and took everyone by surprise.
The band gigged around Northern New South Wales, Queensland and
Victoria, but broke up in 1988. The album featured Pete
Knucklehead
Tindal on vocals and guitars, Trevor Wilson on
Bass.. and Jaime Head on Drums and is recorded with an acoustic style
Blues feel. Click on the cover to hear the tracks.
Pete has
reformed the band in the UK and has shot a video of the title track from
the first album "Black Denim Trousers". The band begin gigging in the UK
and Europe and hope to tour it in the USA.
The second album which was called "ONE BOURBON ONE SCOTCH ONE BEER"
after the song, It was Blues based and released at gigs only it was a collection of the
bands live set. It was recorded over a period of about nine months at
various studios around the North coast of New South Wales. We only sold
it at gigs, but it sold about a 1000 copies over about six months. Its a
motley collection of tunes which we cobbled together.
This album (Steel Road) Had an unfortunate history. The drummer (Steve Coleman) died soon after it was finished. Then the record label went bust, then I lost interest. But here it is, I have remixed it and added another guitar break to the second offering of "Black Denim Trousers") as well as a remix . It is a lot slicker than the first album , but there was more money going around at the time. There are 13 trax of quality sounds about the Biker lifestyle and life on the road, about freedom and the 1%ter's ability to say eff off .
This is a
selection of live tracks recorded over the lifetime of the band, all
styles hostile dog style any style. sweet little ditties designed to warm
the cockles of your black little heart. Little Red Rooster, Bad to the
Bone . Blues Train, Mojo working. Drunken Hearted Man and a host of
others. It was recorded with various players who were in the band over a
20 year period
. A whole bunch of live tracks recorded on the road
in the UK and Australia, The mixes are different because of different engineers.
The Ozzie engineer had a much softer approach. Good but different, I like
different.
